The Plant Science Department in the College of Agriculture and Biological Sciences at South Dakota State University is seeking a tenure-track, 9-month Assistant Professor in Soil Fertility (60% research and 40% Extension). The successful candidate will be expected to develop an externally-funded, applied field research program that investigates the integration of cultural practices, nutrient management, and input variables to enhance the economic potential and sustainability of crop production systems in South Dakota. The incumbent is expected to develop and conduct an Extension Education program utilizing both traditional and precision-farming management practices that assist in developing soil fertility management recommendations to increase crop yield. Ph.D. in Agronomy or closely related field, successfully completed by the appointment date, with an emphasis in Soil Fertility.
Knowledge of effective on-farm research techniques.
Ability to communicate (both verbally and in writing) effectively.
Ability to work well as part of a team.
Demonstrated peer-reviewed publication record.
Commensurate with background and experience.
