COMMUNICATIONS NETWORK ANALYST – UNIVERSITY NETWORKING SYSTEMS & SERVICES

Salary Range CG JS: $39,070 – $57,452
12 months, 100% time
Job Responsibilities: Design, install and manage components of the university’s complex infrastructure, including the technical aspects, system service planning and maintenance, in order to ensure efficient operations.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Knowledge in one or more of the following: Server system devices and how they inter-operate within a local area network environment; server system hardware, high performance computing applications, cluster computing and enterprise server application services.
Skills: Troubleshooting and analyzing complex server systems; knowledge of Linux and Microsoft server operating system platforms, open source and commercial server application software packages; an understanding of programming fundamentals; and good interpersonal communication.
Ability to: Provide server management support for university business needs; write requests for proposals and technical specifications for services, assist with analyzing vendor, contractor or cost/price proposals and invoices; monitor, maintain and analyze system performance metrics; troubleshoot problems and develop strategies to resolve; maintain technical knowledge; communicate clearly and concisely; and travel occasionally with overnight stays and weekends/holidays.
Required license: Valid driver’s license is required.
Comments: Bachelor’s degree in an IT field is preferred. Position requires participation in an on-call rotation to address any system outages that occur outside of normal business hours. Employment is contingent upon a successful background check.
