Responsibilities:

Every day, in nearly 100 countries around the world, millions of people depend on Daktronics scoring and display systems for information and entertainment. Our displays provide vital travel information in airports and train stations and along highways. They advertise the price of gas, store specials, and more as you make your daily commute. They also enhance spectators’ experiences at sporting events of all kinds, from Little League to the major leagues.

As a feeder department, the Corporate Electronic Assembly Department is responsible for maintaining a constant supply of electronic components to the final assembly departments.

Position located in Brookings, South Dakota. Candidates must be enrolled and registered as a fulltime student. Ideal candidate should be available to work approximately 15-20 hours per week during the academic year and at least 20 hours per week during the summer.

Ensures that the appropriate inventory/material is ordered on time (and is the appropriate volume) to support the Material Requirements Planning (MRP)/Master Production Schedule (MPS) schedule. The buying function also includes expediting or de-expediting material as required by the MRP/MPS process.

Assist in scheduling the manufacture of assigned products.  Work with manufacturing, engineering and purchasing to help improve processes, lead times and cycle times.

Places Purchase Orders (PO’s). Required to order from pre-approved sources (Senior Buyers). Input (KPI Data) and participation is involved in vendor management situations.

Manages PO status. Status calls and interaction, as applicable, to ensure prompt inventory/materials delivery.

Work with outside vendors and Manufacturing Stores to get parts and material to and from vendors for products.  Interface with purchasing to expedite parts short to out source locations.

Assess, track and expedite Manufacturing Requisition (MR’s) through manufacturing.

Become knowledgeable of MRB process.  Develop Aging and TAT (turnaround time) metrics. Assist with Root cause analysis and Corrective Actions.

Become knowledgeable of and follow company procedures.

Perform other duties as assigned and needed to meet Daktronics growth and customer expectations.

Qualifications:
The ideal student must be a fulltime student pursuing Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university in a Bachelors degree in Math, Business Economics or comparable degree and in their sophomore, junior or senior year of school.
Material/production control experience within a manufacturing environment preferred.
Good communication skills required.
Good Computer skills required.  Ability to learn new software that includes Glovia and Microsoft Office package.
Excellent negotiation and communication skills, both verbal and written.
Excellent computer skills, and ability to learn new software, especially Daktronics ERP software (Glovia).
Student must maintain an acceptable grade point average.
Background check may be conducted.
Fluent in English, both written and verbal.
