Your work will require you to be directly in the fold with our engineers, working with regimented work methodologies. You will develop manuals, quick guides, white papers, and other technical communication pieces. You will also work with writers in your immediate area and across the company on continuous improvement projects to increase the quality of our work. During the internship interns will be responsible for completing the following experiences:
Write assemble and update technical manuals and quick guides for Daktronics products and procedures.
Work closely with engineers, project managers, and sales personnel to produce quality documents. Study drawings, interview engineers and project managers, take product photos, interview manufacturing workers, and read previous documentation to acquire necessary information.
Regularly and reliably work the hours necessary to complete job requirements.
Become knowledgeable of company policies and procedures.
Professional and responsible work performance.
Pursuing or recently graduated with a degree in English, English for Information Systems, Journalism, Mass Communication Technical Communication, Technical Writing, or other related degree. Must have an acceptable GPA.
Internship begins January 2017. Interns are required to take the Spring semester off from classes and work through August 2017. Work through the Cooperative Education Internship Program at accredited university and Faculty Coordinator to arrange for credit while participating in this internship.
Unofficial transcripts or web transcripts must be submitted with application to be considered for this internship.
Must have interest in writing and must demonstrate excellent written communication skills. Please submit three writing samples that demonstrate knowledge in technical writing. This may include manuals research papers newspaper articles etc.
Fluent in English both written and verbal.
Able to learn and write about technical subjects.
Able to work on and track multiple projects simultaneously.
Possess good oral communication skills.
Demonstrate ability and desire to accept responsibility and take initiative.
Background check may be conducted.
Ability to work well with others in a team environment and to complete work in a timely and quality manner with minimal supervision.
A commitment and demonstrated ability for meeting deadlines.
Ability to work a reliable and dependable schedule.
