The Department of Financial Aid at South Dakota State University invites qualified candidates to apply for the position of Financial Aid Counselor.  This 12 month, full-time position is responsible for providing exceptional assistance to students and parents regarding federal financial aid.  SDSU is especially interested in candidates that can contribute to and/or coordinate course offerings that address the experiences of underrepresented minorities in organizations.

Provide quality financial aid counseling and service to students, families, and the university community.  Assist with the administration of federal student aid program eligibility.  Assist in the other financial aid duties such as the return of Title IV funds and Professional Judgement determination.

– Bachelor’s degree;
– Experience working with financial aid, customer service, or related field;
– Effective computer application skills;
– Effective written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.

– Minimum of one (1) year of work experience in financial aid, customer service or related field;
– Minimum of one (1) year of experience with student information systems and Microsoft office;
– Demonstrated communication and collaboration to achieve desired results.
