The Dairy Science Department at South Dakota State University is inviting applications for the position of Industrial Food Engineering Technologist – Institute for Dairy Ingredient Processing (IDIP).  The successful candidate will serve as a resource for the application of food manufacturing engineering principles to dairy and food science research projects for internal and external clients.  SDSU actively seeks to increase social and intellectual diversity among its faculty and staff.  Women, minorities, veterans, and persons with disabilities are encouraged to apply.

Position Description:
The Industrial Food Engineering Technologist will be responsible for maintaining and establishing relationships with key food and beverage manufacturers and will work with them to provide expertise in the area of food production engineering. The Technologist will operate food processing equipment and analyze the operational data from the equipment. This individual will interpret engineering diagrams and formulas used on projects conducted by the Institute for Dairy Ingredient Processing; be responsible for scheduling and training of student employees in the Dairy Science Pilot Plant and for inventory control of products, supplies, and materials; weekly and monthly action plans for research and processing will be created by the Technologist.

Minimum Qualifications:
•    A Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Food, Dairy Science, or a closely related field.
•    Experience in dairy product manufacturing, analysis and quality control.
•    Minimum of two (2) years of experience in food production and engineering, especially related to dairy foods.
•    Demonstrate effective written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.

Desired Qualifications:
•    Demonstrated ability to apply mathematical and engineering concepts to food production and process control.
•    Proficiency with the main Microsoft Office Suite products.

Salary:
Commensurate with qualifications and experience.
