The Department of History, Political Science, Philosophy and Religion at South Dakota State University, Brookings, South Dakota, is seeking a 9-month, term Instructor of Philosophy to begin on August 22, 2016. SDSU is especially interested in candidates that can contribute to and/or coordinate course offerings that address the experiences of underrepresented minorities in organizations.
The classes to be taught are primarily Introduction to Philosophy, Introduction to Ethics, and Ethics of Informatics. The teaching load for an instructor in the department is 5–5 course load for the academic year with no expectation of service or research. Ability to teach these courses online and in a classroom format is a must and PhD should be completed by the time of appointment. Provide evidence of teaching effectiveness. Candidates should also have effective communication and interpersonal skills.
- PhD in Philosophy, or ABD with anticipated completion by August 22, 2016.
- Experience teaching Introduction to Philosophy and Introduction to Ethics.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrated ability to apply philosophy to health, science, or technology.
- Evidence of teaching effectiveness and dynamism.
Commensurate with qualifications.
