FACILITIES & SERVICES—BUILDING MAINTENANCE

Salary Range CG IH: $17.23 – $25.34/hour
12 months, 100% time
Job Responsibilities: Perform electrical work on campus; maintain and repair all electrical systems in campus buildings and on rural livestock experiment stations; install piping and wiring of outdoor and indoor systems and department equipment to meet National Electric Code standards; work on special equipment and follow methods and practices of general building maintenance and construction.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Knowledge of: Methods and practices of general building maintenance and construction; complex electrical systems requiring extensive use of blueprints and schematics; National Electric Code standards; tools and equipment; and computer software applications and systems.
Ability to: Repair and maintain specialized electrical equipment and electrical systems from building transformer into the building; diagnose problems and determine appropriate repairs; respond to automated building alarms; maintain and inspect campus lighting systems; follow blue prints to install lines, outlets and wiring for specialized equipment for both new construction and remodel jobs; follow codes for both residential and commercial wiring; locate street lights and underground electrical lines; work with high voltage hazards, PCBs and asbestos hazardous vapors; and communication clearly and concisely.
Required license: Valid driver’s license and Electrical Journeyman license are required.
Comments: Maintenance electrician experience preferred. This position is required to respond to emergencies after hours, on weekends or holidays. This position is classified as a Building Maintenance Specialist. Employment is contingent upon a successful background check.
