South Dakota State University Plant Science Department is offering an exciting career opportunity as a Research Associate I. We are looking for a creative and innovative professional to join us in the Soil/Precision Ag projects. This is a 12 month, full-time position. This position is supervised by Dr. David Clay, Professor, Soil Scientist.

Collect, organize, and analyze GIS and project data for multidisciplinary projects related to precision agriculture. Assist in field research projects and data collection as needed. Assist with preparation of reports, extension bulletins and journal papers.
- Master’s Degree in Plant Science or a closely related field completed before or within 6 months from start date.
- Ability to communicate effectively with diverse audiences using written and oral communication.
- A proficient understanding of statistics.
- Ability to work as a contributing team member.
- Experience with soil analytical equipment and practices, R, ARcMap, GPS equipment, and other computer programs.
- Valid driver’s license or ability to obtain one within 30 days of hire, and willingness to travel.
- Previous experience with mapping software, nutrient and sample analyzers, field studies, data collection.
- Demonstrated experience with excel, powerpoint, statistical analysis, presentations.
- Knowledge of agricultural practices in the Northern Great Plains.
- Experience with agricultural equipment.

It is 50 miles north of Sioux Falls, a city of close to 150,000.
